you saved me. those are somewhat dramatic words to open with, but i want you to know the weight of what you've done for me. lord knows that it's hard enough to make friends in your thirties, even in this weird, anonymous-lite hobby we have where people can change identity at a moment's notice or simply disappear. you didn't have any real reason to reach out and befriend me a year and a half ago (because wow, it's been nearly that long), but you did anyway. we just started talking and never really stopped. i know people have criticized you in the past for being too open, but never change yourself for the people who will always look for a so-called flaw. that friendship you showed me is what kept me anchored rather than just being another rp "here and then gone" acquaintance once my slp, as we know, decided to bounce.
admittedly i should have listened to you sooner about the red flags there, but sometimes the good outweighs the bad until the bag piles up and comes to collect, as it did. you saw how miserable i was, and rather than just talk shit, you offered me a lifeline: a new place to write, a line we could pursue. a month later when i said, "do not let me create a new character" you encouraged me with aplomb since you had another up your sleeve too, and now we've crafted a bromance that i think should serve as a reminder to everyone that platonic love is just as important and valid as romantic love. which also happens to be true of your friendship and the way you reach out to people who might feel alienated or on the fringe or just people whose weirdness you admire. i consider myself lucky to be the one who gets to be in that best friend slot when seeing how many people admire the hell out of you.
SO thank you for making the last few months so rich with storytelling and always being willing to craft new and interesting characters with me. if there's one person who can compel me to go to the desert and risk evaporating or charring on the spot, it's you, and it will happen. in the meantime i hope you have the best birthday and that your loved ones remember to spoil the hell out of you the way you always do for them. it's what you deserve.
